Ted Kennedy has been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor.
The 76-year-old was rushed to the hospital this past weekend with what family members thought was a stroke but ended up being a seizure caused by the malignant growth in his brain.
Malignant gliomas are a type of brain cancer diagnosed in about 9,000 Americans a year β and the most common type among adults. It's a starting diagnosis: How well patients fare depends on what specific tumor type is determined by further testing.
Average survival can range from less than a year for very advanced and aggressive types β such as glioblastomas β or to about five years for different types that are slower growing.
So sad.
Our thoughts and positive energy go out to the Senator and his family.
