Son of Rambow: Preview & Trailer

Despite the off-putting title, Son of Rambow is a darling of a movie, big in heart and humanity. It’s the 1980s, and Will Proudfoot (Bill Milner) is forbidden to watch any movies anywhere. But after his new best friend, Lee Carter (Will Poulter), shows him a bootleg copy of First Blood, the two kids become obsessed with making their own film. When a French exchange student (Jules Sitruk) comes to town and muscles into the production, the two boys need to figure out how to finish their movie on their own terms.

Directed by Garth Jennings, this movie is rated PG-13 for some violence and reckless behavior. Hits theaters May 2, 2008.

Made of Honor: Preview & Trailer

image

Tom (Patrick Dempsey) has it all: Great career, good looks and women falling all over him. Hannah (Michelle Monaghan) is the one woman he’s never slept with, and the two of them are platonic best friends. Ok, I’m harking back to My Best Friend’s Wedding and When Harry Met Sally, but still think this movie looks really sweet. Love both Dempsey and Monaghan, and can’t wait to see them together.

More after the jump, including a trailer…

After Hannah leaves for an extended overseas trip, Tom realizes just how much he’s in love with her and decides to propose to her when she gets back to the States. But, of course, there’s a wrench in the works. When Hannah returns, she’s engaged to a man (Kevin McKidd, most recently seen on NBC’s Journeyman) she just met and she asks Tom to be her “maid” of honor at her wedding. Tom valiantly accepts the job, but only as a last ditch attempt to win Hannah’s heart and stop her from marrying someone else.

Directed by Paul Weiland, this movie is rated PG-13 for sexual content and language. (Note: originally Rated R for some sex-related material.)

Breaking News: Ashley Olsen has Teeth

ashley_olsen-everywhere_at_once_screening-04_122_652lo.jpg

In a rare move, Ashley Olsen actually moved her jaw last night, exposing her teeth. Although I was pretty sure the muscles around her mouth didn’t work, she proved me wrong while working the press line at a screening for “Everyone at Once” in NYC.

“Iron Man” Scores With Critics

image

The long-awaited Iron Man hits theaters this Friday, May 2, 2008. It’s already played in some parts of the country, and early reviews are good (except for The New Yorker, which always has a bug up its you-know-what about everything - Did I just say that? Yes, I did).

Anyway, on Metacritic.com, the movie scored 81 out of 100 (critics) and 8.4 out of 10 (user comments), so that’s pretty good so far.

More after the jump, including a trailer…

The movie stars Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who’s kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Ah, but he’s got some brains and manages to escape after building a high-tech suit of armor. When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons the powerful armor and vows to protect the world as… Iron Man.

Directed by Jon Favreau, this movie also stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow, Leslie Bibb, and Shaun Toub. It’s rated PG-13 for some intense sequences of sci-fi action and violence, and brief suggestive content.

Back to You: 1.12 ‘Two Steps Forward, One Step Back’ Recap

Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton/Back to You
Original Air Date: April 30, 2008

Picking up right where the last episode left off, KELLY wakes up from her faint, and she and CHUCK clarify for Gracie that the two of them conceived her the “old-fashioned way.” When Chuck admits to GRACIE that he didn’t tell her he was her father because he didn’t know himself, Gracie gets angry that her mother lied to her, and then she runs upstairs.

As Chuck and Kelly repair Gracie’s science project, which was broken when Chuck fainted on it, they reminisce about how they hooked up that one time in the first place.

It was New Year’s Eve in 1997, and the station was holding a farewell party for Chuck, who was about to depart for a bigger news market in Minneapolis/St. Paul after six years in Pittsburgh. The two anchors had both been drinking, and at night’s end, Kelly started to tell Chuck what she would really like as she was leaving. Assuming he knew what she was going to say, Chuck kissed her.

The office party then moved to Kelly’s house after MARSH overheard the two planning to go there themselves. Hours later, Kelly finally manages to get everyone to leave, and the next morning Chuck tries to do the same himself, without saying goodbye to Kelly.

As someone who’s had tons of one-night stands, Chuck is certain Kelly is going to be clingy now that they’ve had sex. Kelly is offended he’d think she’d be that ga-ga over him after just one time together, of course, which is why he leaves Pennsylvania with her so pissed off at him.

In the present, Gracie comes back downstairs eventually, and instead of still being angry at her mother, she’s now angry at Chuck. She liked it the way it was when it was just her and her mother, and she feels having a father is going to ruin everything.

Chuck goes up to Gracie’s room later to try and comfort her. Instead, he ends up breaking a doll and a lamp because Gracie’s room is such a mess. Kelly steps in to talk to Gracie and finally calms her by assuring her that Chuck isn’t going to change things between mom and daughter; they’re just adding him to the mix.

When Kelly and Gracie go back downstairs to talk to Chuck now that everything has been worked out, he’s gone. Kelly paces around for a long time, until Chuck reappears with a dog for Gracie. Since she’s wanted one for a while, Chuck’s gift instantly lifts her spirits, and she thanks him repeatedly.
