Darn it!
Earlier today, I had the opportunity to participate in an interview with the one and only Niecy Nash, star of Comedy Central’s ridiculous — and I mean that in such a good way — Reno 911!, not to mention the upcoming Fox fall sitcom Do Not Disturb.
I knew it would probably lead to nothing, especially considering the Q&A was in support of the Fox show. But how could I possibly pass up this unique chance to get some scoop on who died at the end of Reno 911!’s fifth-season finale, “The Parade”?
Most bets, including mine, seem to be on Nash’s Deputy Raineesha Williams meeting her maker since the actress has this new gig, but nobody’s saying for sure. So, I took a deep breath and plunged in with my question, hoping against the odds to resolve this dilemma once and for all.
Well, let’s just say I knew right, because although she was as kind as could be, Nash wasn’t able to give up any dish — not because she was trying to hold out on fans, but because she doesn’t know who died. In fact, it’s possible the writers and producers don’t even know yet. Bummer!
Thinking about it afterwards, that seems perfectly logical for a TV show like Reno 911!. As Nash stated, we’ll just have to wait until the next season begins. If there’s a next season, that is, since the show hasn’t been renewed at this point.
In the event that Season Five is the end, viewers will be left with a mighty darn big cliffhanger. But if we get lucky with a sixth run, I hope they don’t improvise the big reveal out of the blue — we fans are going to need a little preparation and advance advertising for something this big.
FYI: I’ll have the entire interview with Nash posted before Do Not Disturb premieres next Wednesday, September 10.
